Field Technical Assistance
At field level, DMCIS provides on-site technical assistance to disaster medical coordinators of operational agencies serving disaster-affected populations. This peer-to-peer interaction is based on shared appreciation of state-of-the-art tools of professional practice: briefing tools, analytic tools, programmatic tools, decision support tools, and knowledge management tools.
In compelling settings of security instability and excess mortality, where insufficient locally qualified staff are present, DMCIS may second experts to assist an agency with medical coordination in defined catchment areas in close collaboration with local health authorities. In this context, DMCIS may engage partners, cluster leads, and donors with evidence, insight, and advocacy on selected issues.
